The 2015 Auto Shanghai has handful of cars that are bound to come in India. But the vehicles that we, in India, are more excited about are – Hyundai ix25 and Suzuki SX4 S-Cross, two vehicles that are highly anticipated. Both the Suzuki S-Cross, likely to be called the Maruti Suzuki Across in India, and Hyundai ix25 will take on the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and others in the league. Both the models might also affect the sales of the Ford EcoSport, though they will be positioned in slightly upper segment.
The Indian-spec model of the Hyundai ix25 and Maruti Across will be significantly different from the models which are on sale in the Chinese market. Both the crossovers are expected to be priced aggressively, since they will be produced locally for the Indian market.
The Hyundai ix25, based on the company’s popular Fluidic Design philosophy, will look more aggressive and outgoing than most of its rivals. It will share its components with the Hyundai Elite i20. The compact SUV will be offered with the Verna’s 1.6-litre petrol engine and two diesel options – a 1.4-litre and a 1.6-litre. Both the manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.
The Maruti Suzuki Across will be the first crossover from automaker in India. The compact crossover will share resemblance with the European SX4 hatchback. However, the crossover is likely to receive some exterior and mechanical updates. The Across is likely to get a 1.4-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre multijet diesel engine.
