The Land Rover Defender with the BS6 2 update was launched in India on 18 April, 2023.

Feature list:

Exterior:

The Defender boasts a range of exterior features, such as square-shaped matrix LED headlights, smoked taillights, 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and even a full-sized spare wheel.

Interior:

The Defender's cabin is equipped with features, including an 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a heads-up display (HUD). It also gets a surround-view camera, a Meridian-sourced music system, 4-zone climate control, leather upholstery, a centre console with an armrest, and 14-way electrically adjustable front seats with memory and heating/cooling functions.

Engine, performance, and specifications:

The BS6 Phase 2-updated Land Rover Defender offers a choice of three petrol and one diesel engine options. The 3.0-litre diesel engine generates 296bhp and 650Nm torque, while the 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre petrol engines produce 296bhp/400Nm and 394bhp/550Nm respectively. The newly introduced variants are powered by a 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine producing 625Nm torque. Power is transmitted through an eight-speed automatic gearbox to all four wheels via the AWD system.

Variants:

The Land Rover Defender SUV is available in three main trim levels – 90, 110, and 130 – each offering a range of different variants such as Standard, S, SE, HSE, X-Dynamic S, X-Dynamic SE, H-Dynamic HSE, First Edition, X, and Carpathian.

Safety:

In the EURO NCAP crash test, the Land Rover Defender achieved a five-star safety rating.

Competition:

In India, the Land Rover Defender competes against the BMW X7, Audi Q7, Mercedes GLS, and Volvo XC90.
