Indian subsidiary of Swedish car maker Volvo is continuing its launching spree in the country. Only in 2014, Volvo launched XC60 and S60 models, following it up with V40 Cross Country. Now, according to reports, the firm is set to launch the Volvo XC90 in May 2015, preponing the introduction by almost four months. Earlier, the firm had planned to release the XC90 in the month of September but putting into consideration the demand, it has decided to launch it earlier. The XC90 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) will be launched in India in two variants, namely Momentum and Inscription.

Volvo XC90 Momentum will feature keyless entry, cornering headlights, tyre pressure monitor, rear sensors, electrically operated boot lid, navigation system, hill decent control and an instrument cluster that has a size of 12.3 inches.

The high-end variant, Inscription, comprises features like Four-C chassis, dual integrated taillights, leather dashboard, air-suspension system and Nappa leather on the seats. Other specifications of this variant include ventilated front seats and Bowers & Wilkins music system.

Volvo XC90 SUV is fitted with a D5 turbocharged engine that produces a maximum power level of 226 BHP and peak torque of 470 Nm. This drivetrain is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission system. Some reports claim that Volvo will be looking at introducing a T8 petrol variant for the XC90. This SUV, when launched in India, will compete with the likes of BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GL Class and Audi Q7.
