Toyota Motors, one of the largest vehicle makers in the world market, has unveiled the official images of new generation version of its popular luxury sports utility vehicle – Toyota Fortuner - on its website in the Thailand market. The all new Fortuner 2012 is expected to hit the Indian roads by the end of this year.
At present, the Fortuner model is available in five engine options in other markets. While in India, the car is only available in the 3.0L diesel version. However, this time around, the company is also expected to roll-out new Fortuner in a lower priced 4x2 variant.
The Toyota Fortuner currently carries a price tag of Rs 20,14,800, and it competes with the likes of Honda CR-V, Nissan X-Trail, Ford Endeavour, Chevrolet Captiva, BMW X1 and Mitsubishi Outlander.
If launched, the cheaper 4X2 version of the SUV is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 15 to 18 lakh, which will not only boost the sales of the vehicle in the Indian market but would also enable the Fortuner to compete with the upcoming Mahindra World SUV W201 and new Tata Aria models.
