Tata Nano, the most economical and much talked about small car in the Indian market, is all set to mark its debut in Bangladesh in the second half of this months. Nitol Group, which is a sole distributor of the Tata Nano in this market, has announced to start marketing this car in Bangladeshi market.

Speaking to the reporters, Abdul Matlub Ahmed, chairman of Nitol, said, “We will import 100-200 cars and move forward depending on market demand. He added, “We'll import all models and look at market response. Then we'll decide on the import program on the basis of demand.”

It is expected that the car will be priced in the segment of Tk 6 lakh and Tk 6.5 lakh in Bangladesh, however, the company is yet to determine the price figures of this model.

Meanwhile, Tata Motors has started exporting the Nano model to the neighboring markets like Sri Lanka and Nepal. In the period of April to November 2011, the company exported a total of 1,728 units of Nano model.

After its high profile launch in March 2009, it has been a roller coaster ride for Tata Nano in the Indian market. The sales figured of Nano saw a dramatic slump in November 2010, falling to mere 509 units as compared to over 9,000 units in July 2010.

However, the company has been upgrading the car with addition safety package, new features and enhanced warranty package. Speaking on the new upgraded Nano 2012, Mr. Ahmed said, “Recently, Tata has updated a lot of things in the Nano and made it an appealing one.”
