      New 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander unveiled

      Just a month before its global debut at the Geneva motor show, the Japanese auto giant Mitsubishi has revealed its all new luxury Sports Utility Vehicle – Outlander. The new Outlander 2012 will be carrying both conventional and hybrid versions; though the hybrid version will be introduced in the selected markets only. The company had showcased the new Outlander model as PX-MiEV II concept car at the Tokyo motor show, where it had grabbed major attentions from the SUV lovers.

      Both engine options of the current Outlander model will be replaced with more refined and revised versions of 2.0-litre MIVEC petrol and 2.2-litre MIVEC clean diesel engine. The new Outlander SUV will be offered with both two wheel and four wheel drive options, along with a number of performance enhancing features including stop-start system, a ‘Forward Collision Mitigation System, a lane departure warning system and active cruise control and an advanced six-speed automatic gearbox. Moreover, a new eco drive mode will be added in the car for the people who prefer to drive in an environment friendly manner.

      As far as looks are concerned, the front of the SUV has been made more conventional, following the company’s theme, - “solid, simple and safe”. However, the rear profile of the new Outlander is yet to be revealed by the company. A range of cosmetic and feature upgrades have been made in the SUV including new multi-function steering wheel and a clearer instrument panel, ‘wide vision’ xenon headlamps, a flat cargo area and many more.
