The country's popular affordable small car Tata Nano has always attracted positive as well as negative reviews among the car fanatics. This time around the car projects its potential at its best as it reaches the Base Camp of Siachen Glacier in Ladakh, the highest battlefield on Earth, driven by Dr. Varun Vagish, an adventurist and car enthusiast from Asansol, West Bengal.
The impressive feat was accomplished with Tata Nano in just about 20 days covering 7,000 kms, in a journey which started from Asansol, West Bengal. This was achieved after climbing the World's Highest Motorable Pass - Khardong La (18,380 feet) and several other passes like Chang La, Zozi La, Fotu La and Namik La. Mr. Vagish in his Tata Nano has traversed the most rugged terrains and erratic weather conditions in this journey. The Nano triumphed against all odds and emerged a winner at the end of this test of endurance and reliability.
Speaking more on the occasion, Mr. Varun Vagish, "Being a rear wheel drive car, Tata Nano was a mobile powerhouse while climbing the steep inclines of the highest mountain passes. Lowest turning radius also helped me to easily maneuver the vehicle on sharp curves. It just took 30 minutes to climb the last 16 kilometers stretch from North-Pulu to Khardung-la, World’s Highest Motorable Pass. In the plains, it was driven more than 800 kms in a day at few instances. During the whole journey, I felt immense respect for the whole team of Tata Motors who conceptualized and shaped this beautiful vehicle."
