The BMW X5M has been revealed completely in new spy images ahead of its launch in coming weeks. Unveiled at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show, the X5M is one of the latest models that have been developed by the BMW M Division. According to reports, the X5M will be launched in India by the end of 2015.
Powering the SUV is a 4.4-litre TwinPower Turbo V8 engine that puts out a maximum power of 575bhp at 6,000rpm – 6,500rpm and 750Nm of torque at 2,200rpm – 5,000rpm. It’s the same engine that will power the X6, which is scheduled to launch on July 23, 2015. This powertrain is mated with an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic that helps the car achieve 0-100kmph in 4.2 seconds. It has an electronically limited top-speed of 250kmph. The 4WD (all-four wheel drive) system will come as standard feature.
On the exterior, the X5M features M-sport front and rear bumpers, ‘M’ badge on side inlets, 20-inches alloy wheels and side skirts. Inside, the car gets a sporty red theme with M-sport steering wheel, gear-lever and instrument cluster, Head-Up display and BMW’s iDrive infotainment system.
The BMW X5M will be imported to India via CBU (completely built up) route, and then assembled at the company’s Chennai plant with 50% of localization. Upon its launch, the X5M will take on the likes of Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Mercedes GL63 AMG and Land Rover Range Rover Sport in the international markets.
