Interestingly, the 'D90' stands for the hatchback's impressive ability to churn out 90 PS as its peak output power. Industry experts believe that the latest Vista D90 model is part of the Tata Motors' well planned strategy dedicated at luring the performance oriented Indian car enthusiasts towards its Indica brand.
The company is working on changing its brand image and market perception among the domestic audience and the new model looks set to accomplish the same. The Indica Vista Quadrajet D90 premium hatch will promote Tata Motors as a coming of age and powerful passenger car maker.
At present, Tata Motors has pitched its Indica Vista D90 model in an intense face off against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i20, Fiat Grande Punto 90, Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Fabia in the Indian auto market. The stylish and sporty Indica Vista D90 is offered to domestic audience with a base retail value of Rs. 5.99 lakhs for its VX trim, whereas the ZX model comes with a price tag of Rs. 6.83 lakhs (all prices in ex-showrooms of New Delhi).
Speaking of under-the-hood specifications of new Tata Indica Vista Quadrajet D90, the premium hatch comes fitted with a 1.3 litre, four-cylinder, Fiat sourced Multijet engine that produces a maximum output power close to 89 bhp, along with a peak output torque around 200 Nm. Evidently, the latest Tata model boasts off an impressive power and torque performance, along with sturdy design, bold looks and sporty character.
Further, the Indica Vista D90 model scores better in terms of engine performance as compared to the undisputed champion of the premium hatchback segment- Maruti Suzuki Swift. Therefore, the Tata hatchback could certainly lure buyers away from Swift on account of its superior engine performance.
