      JLR January sales surged by 32 per cent

      Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), the completely owned division of Tata Motors, has registered a growth of 32 per cent in the global sales during January 2013, with figures standing at 34,877 units. During the period, the Jaguar brand managed to deliver 5759 units, marking a growth of 40 per cent. A major portion in its sales was driven by the XJ model, followed by XF with a growth of 70 per cent and 40 per cent, respectively.

      Expressing his views on the brilliant sales performance, the Director of Group Sales Operations at JLR said, “With one of the best month's sales performances ever, both Jaguar and Land Rover brands have had a very strong start to the year. This reflects the introduction of the all-new Range Rover as well as the 2013 Model Year Jaguar XF and XJ models.”

      In an official statement, the company said, “January sales were up across every major market with sales up 74 per cent in China, 46 per cent in Asia Pacific, 33 per cent in the UK, 24 per cent in North America and 10 per cent in Europe.”

      The sales of Land Rover brand during the month stood at 29,118 vehicles, reporting an increase of 31 per cent. In January 2013, the demand for Freelander witnessed a growth of 57 per cent, whereas Range Rover was up by 52 per cent. In the Range Rover series, Evoque marked an increase of 32 per cent, whereas Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Discovery recorded an increase of 17 per cent and 14 per cent, respectively. Reportedly, the demand for Land Rover witnessed record sales in several significant markets, including USA, UK and Germany.

      On the other hand, the parent company, Tata Motors recorded not-so-good times in the global arena with sales figures falling by 16 per cent. The auto maker delivered 101112 units in the international market, recording third monthly fall in a row.
