      Tata Motors records growth in February 2012

      For the month of February 2012, the global sales of Tata Motors Group, including Jaguar Land Rover, marked at 127,318 units, which showed a growth of 24 per cent as compared to the corresponding month last year. The cumulative sales of the year were 1,112,518 units, marking a growth of 15 per cent from the corresponding period of 2010-2011.

      Moreover, the global sales of all Tata commercial vehicles, including Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera range were recorded at 57,857 units for February 2012, which is the highest ever in a single month and a growth by 24 per cent as well. The cumulative sales for the year were 536,136 units, mentioning an overall growth of 18 per cent. During February 2012, the global sales of all the passenger vehicles stood at 69,461 units, expanded by 25 per cent. Further, the cumulative sales for the fiscal were 576,382 units, recording growth of 11 per cent in total.

      The global sales of Tata passenger vehicles and the distribution offtake of Fiat cars in India were totalled at 37,204 units for the month, showing expansion by 9 per cent as compared to same period in 2011. Moreover, the cumulative sales of the year were recorded at 298,420 units.

      As far as worldwide sales of Jaguar Land Rover for the month of February 2012 are concerned, it marked a growth of 49 per cent at 32,257 units over February 2011. The sales of the company were mainly driven because of the 12MY Jaguar product and the Range Rover Evoque. Sales of Jaguar for the month were recorded at 4,228 units, expanded by 32 per cent, whereas sales of Land Rover were marked at 28,029 units. These figures of Land Rover marked growth of 52 per cent and the best ever in a single month. The cumulative sales of Jaguar Land Rover for the year were 277,962 units, showing growth of 27 per cent, whereas the cumulative sales of Jaguar were 48,696 units, marking a downfall of 1 per cent. However, the cumulative sales of Land Rover were recorded at 229,266 units, higher by 35 per cent.

      Tata Motors, the largest automobile company of India, has consolidated revenues of Rs. 1,23,133 crores ($ 27 billion) for the year 2010-2011. With its associate companies and subsidiaries, the company has started its business operations in UK, Thailand, South Korea, Spain and South Africa. One of them is Jaguar Land Rover, the single company comprising two well known British brands. Moreover, Tata Motors has business alliance with Fiat in India and thereby, is engaged in distributing Fiat cars in the country.

      With around 6.5 million vehicles in the country, Tata Motors has emerged as the market leader of commercial vehicle segment and is also counted among the best three in passenger vehicles segment. The company also holds the title of the world’s third largest bus maker and the fourth largest truck maker. The cars, trucks and buses manufactured by Tata are marketed in Middle East, Europe, Africa, South East Asia, South Asia, and South America.
