      Tata Motors, the country's largest auto company, seems all set to introduce its new Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), Safari Storme, in the Indian auto industry as speculations around the model have attained a pace. Reportedly, the car is likely to sparkle at the Indian showrooms on October 17, 2012. Initially, the model was showcased at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, scheduled in January this year and was able to attract the masses across its stand.

      Industry experts believe that the new model will be a part of Safari's fleet and will not replace the current generation model. However, the upcoming model will boasts off refreshed interiors, reworked exteriors and add-ons in comfort features. The yet-to-be launched model will feature several cutting edge advancements, which will enable the model strike right chords with the hearts of Indian buyers. Some of the appealing features packed within the exteriors of 2012 Safari Storme will include chrome plated twin exhaust vents, projector headlights and a unique tailgate, among others.

      It is anticipated that the upcoming model from the stables of Tata Motors will hold a 2.2 litre DiCOR diesel engine. The maximum power produced by this powertrain is speculated to stand somewhere at 138 bhp with a highest torque output of 320 Nm. Besides, the suspension system and gearbox of Safari Storme is expected to have been shared from Tata Aria crossover, which clearly ensures the optimum driving ergonomics and performance of the upcoming model.

      With this configuration, auto analysts believe that the new generation Safari Storme will efficiently square off against the same segment models, Renault Duster and Mahindra XUV500, which presently happens to be segment leaders. The price of upcoming model is expected to lie somewhere around Rs. 9 lacs, which will surely help Tata Motors re-attain its dominant position in the SUV segment of the Indian auto industry.
