Tata Motors, the country's largest automobile manufacturer, has announced to launch its popular mini Commercial Vehicle (CV) Ace and passenger model Magic in the South African, Asean and Middle East auto markets on November 8, 2012. Evidently, the company has together sold more than 1 million units of Ace and Magic vehicles during August 2012, in some 24 countries.

Commenting on the stupendous success of its two products, Ravi Pisharody, Executive Director, Commercial Vehicles Business, Tata Motors, said, “We believe we have much more opportunities. We will be looking to expand more in South Asia, the Middle East and the ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) markets. We had the capacity constraint till about March-April. But now we got the expansion going (which will cater to the increased exports).”

Reportedly, Tata Motors introduced Ace CV way back in 2005 with some 30,000 units being assembled annually at the company's Pune based facility. Further, the company launched the Magic passenger vehicle in 2007, in order to capitalise on the rising need and demand for a low cost public carrier vehicle in the country. Driven by the immense success of Ace CV and Magic passenger vehicle, Tata Motors has established a dedicated production facility at Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, which boasts off an astounding annual yield of about 5,00,000 units.

As per reports, Tata Motors sold some 10,59,135 units of Ace CV and Magic passenger carrier during October 2012, with domestic sales contributing to 9,97,133 units alone. Accordingly, the company exported some 62,002 units of Ace CV and Magic during October 2012.

Commenting on Tata Ace and Tata Magic wrapping up sales of 1 million units, Pisharody, said, “Of the 1 million units, half have come in the last 26 months alone. We look forward for a rosy outlook for this platform and hope to achieve the next 1 million even in a shorter time.”

At present, Tata Motors sells Ace CV and Magic passenger carrier through its 1,346 retail outlets in the country. Further, it has been revealed that 50 per cent sales of the two models come from rural and semi urban Indian auto sectors, highlighting their incredible success on domestic turf. According to Pisharody, the company enjoys market leadership with about 80 per cent share in Indian mini CV and passenger carrier segment.
