      Tata Motors introduces new Commercial Vehicles with futuristic services

      The Commercial Vehicles Business Unit (CVBU) of Tata Motors introduced six new heavy trucks, which are first of their kind in the Heavy Commercial Vehicle (HCV) segment. The auto maker also introduced an efficient driver management and vehicle solution system – Tata FleetMan Telematics Services.

      New commercial vehicles launched by the company include the Tata LPT 3723, a 37 tonne 5-axle rigid truck, which has been designed on the 10x4 chassis. The auto company has also extended its Tata PRIMA range with the addition of two new engines with more potential, 380 bhp and 230 bhp. In 380 bhp engine, the company has introduced two new vehicles - PRIMA 4938 tractor and PRIMA 3138K tipper, whereas 230 bhp range also includes two new models, namely PRIMA 4923 and PRIMA 4023 tractors. The company has also fortified its Construck range following the launch of Tata LPK 3118 tipper.

      All the new six vehicles of the company have been exclusively built and designed to provide the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), unmatched fuel efficiency, long servicing intervals and improved ergonomics for driver's cabin.

      Besides, the auto maker has introduced a Telematics and Fleet Management Service, marketed under Tata FleetMan. The initiative offers cutting edge Telematics solution and is targeted to the owners of commercial vehicles as well as big goods' consignments. This move will help the individuals to increase their productivity, resulting in more lucrative transactions. In the initial stages, Tata FleetMan will be introduced on new tractor-trailers and thereafter will be available in the company's compete line-up of Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle range in a few couple of months. The company has also planned to provide this service to the existing vehicles with aftermarket fitments.

      Expressing hi sentiments on the ceremony, Executive Director (Commercial Vehicles) of Tata Motors, Ravi Pisharody, quoted, “Tata Motors has been in the Indian Commercial Vehicle space for over six decades. Tata FleetMan, completely developed in-house, further affirms our expertise in offering solutions which can transform the dynamics of the transport industry.”

      Tata's LPT 3723 happens to be the pioneer 5-axle rigid truck in India and is expected to be trend setter in the country's commercial vehicle industry. This vehicle has the potential to carry around 4.5 tonnes volume more than the current 31 tonne Multi Axle vehicle (MAV) segment. Thus, LPT 3723 will change the trend of transportation in several segments by bringing down the cost of transportation. The model has been assimilated with a Cummins 6BT 5.9 litre engine, which belts out a maximum power of 208 bhp at 2500 rpm and features twin-drive axle, twin steerable front axles, and a tag-lift axle. Tata LPT 3723 happens to be the only vehicle in its segment to boasts of such advanced technology. The turning diameter of the vehicle measure around 21.9 metres, adding to its manoeuvrability.

      On the other hand, Tata PRIMA 3138.K has been designed particularly for deep mining in Coal, Lignite mines, Iron ore and bulk Limestone loadings during off-road operations. The vehicle is believed to be a tough performer, which has the potential to successfully hold control over the challenging heavy-duty mining operations. PRIMA 3138.K has been designed on a 4-axle 31-tonne GVW tipper, mated to a 9-speed Eaton manual transmission or an Allison automatic gearbox. This 8X4 tipper is incorporated with a Cummins ISLe (CRDi) powertrain, which churns out a peak power of 380 bhp.

      The model boasts off features like Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), new generation brakes and hub reduction axle, which is exclusively designed the mining activities. Tipped also has a spacious air-conditioned cabin, which includes adjustable steering wheel and pneumatically adjustable seats, which together enables the driver to easily operate the vehicle for several hours.

      Considering the speciality of Tata PRIMA 4938.S, it is the first Indian tractor puller, which remains parallel with the demands of customers seeking heavy and over dimensional movements like transformers, windmill components and rail coaches, among others. Earlier, such kinds of vehicles were imported in the country, but now Tata Motors has come up with a new line-up at Indian price. The model features a ISLe engine, which produces a maximum power of 370 bhp with a peak torque of 1550 Nm. Standard features packed within the model includes air conditioner, double sleeper bunks, tilt as well as telescopic adjustable steering column, adjustable seats and power windows.

      The Tata PRIMA 230 HP LX range comprises 4923.S and 4023.S models. This new range of the company was introduced to extend the advantage of PRIMA to several other transporters who demand a less power-to-weight ratio. These vehicles are incorporated with Cummins ISBe electronic power mill, which has common rail injection system for better fuel injection. The model has been equipped with the country's first indigenously developed transmission system, featuring 9 speeding gears with an overdrive function. The inner cabin of the model is offered with an option of air conditioner, 4 point suspensions for less vibration and two sleeper bunks for improved comforts of the driver.

      On the other hand, Tata LPK 3118 is a 4-axle tipper is specially designed for coal transportation, aggregate / sand transportation, earth work and port as well as industrial handling operations. The auto maker designed this vehicle because of surge in demand for performance oriented and fuel efficient tippers in the country. LPK 3118 holds a Tata Cummins 183 bhp engine, which delivers 680 Nm of torque at a fairly low 1400 rpm. Mated to Tata G-1150 gearbox, LPK 3118 features best-in-class turning radius and a decent gradability, which enables it to emerge as a true winner in its segment. The cabin of the model is exclusively designed to provide the driver an optimum level of comfort during the operations.

      The FleetMan Telematics and Fleet management services of Tata Motors have been designed to look upon the issues of transport industry; especially targeted to the owners of commercial vehicles. With advanced Telematics solutions, including driver management, fuel management and remote diagnostics, Tata FleetMan comprises futuristic IT and Telecom software and equipments.
