It has been more than three decades ago when the Japanese auto giant Suzuki Motor Corp. collaborated with Maruti to enter the Indian market. This time around the company has been planning on inaugurating new factory outlet in northwestern state of Gujarat. The plant is likely to aid the company in meeting the growing demand for its vehicle in India. The complex is likely to feature three plants that has a combined annual production capacity of about 7,50,000 vehicles. The first plant expected to open sometime in mid-2017 is expected to produce about 2,50,000 vehicles a year. For this the company has reportedly invested about 30 billion rupees.
Speaking more on the occasion, son of Osamu Suzuki said, This plant will make cars for India and Africa. We will be able to decide on the kind of models (to be) exported to Africa when this plant gets operational." Currently Maruti Suzuki manufactures passenger vehicles from its Haryana baseed facility, whilch holds a capacity to produce about 1.5 Million vehicles a year.
