After the success of Datsun’s GO hatchback in India, the next launch from the low cost brand, GO+ MPV is being highly anticipated. Touted to be one of the strongest contenders in MPV segment, details on the upcoming MPV have been leaked on an Indonesian website. It is being believed that the India-Spec model will share striking similarities with the Indonesia bound model. According to the buzz, Datsun will offer GO+ MPV in five trims in India including D, A, Option A, T and Option T variants. A 1.2 litre petrol engine engendering 68 Bhp will power the vehicle and will be coupled with a five-speed manual transmission. An automatic gearbox is also being anticipated for the MPV, however this might be offered in Indonesian market. For the domestic market, Datsun may also put on offer a 1.5 litre K9K diesel powertrain.

To keep the base version under affordable tag, the company might miss out on features like power steering, body coloured bumpers and audio system. Since mercury soars during summers in India, therefore AC will be equipped inside the vehicle to keep the ambience cool inside the cabin. But the Indonesian model will come devoid of AC. The next level trim, A is likely to come embedded with features like body coloured bumpers, mobile dock, audio system, bottle holders and storage pockets. Option A model on the other hand is expected to be equipped with 1 DIN audio system. Trim T could be offered with all the forenamed features along with added features like power steering, power windows, body coloured door handles and an engine immobilizer.

High end trim, T Option will get a roof mounted spoiler and parking sensors. The MPV segment in India already has viable and affordable options like Maruti Ertiga and Chevrolet Enjoy, by July, Honda will also launch its upcoming MPV Mobilio in India. To make GO+ MPV visible among such competitors, Datsun needs to price the MPV aggressively. A hypothetical price for the Indonesian market is being speculated as per which the basic D version could be priced at Rp 85 million (Rs 4.42 lakh), A trim could be tagged at Rp 92.4 million (Rs 4.81 lakh), Option A on the other hand is likely to be made available for Rp 92.9 million (Rs 4.84 lakh), T trim could be priced at Rp 99.9 million (Rs 5.20 lakh) and high end version T Option could be offered at Rp 102.9 million (Rs 5.36 lakh). Hopefully, the MPV will be priced aggressively for the Indian market too.
