Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the apex body that represents 46 leading vehicle and vehicular engine manufacturers based in India, is organising the 52nd Annual Auto Convention on September 6, 2012 at Hotel Taj Palace in New Delhi.

SIAM operates by creating convenient conduits which facilitate communication and harmonious relationship between the Automobile Industry and the Government, National and International institutions. SIAM and private investors work together and agilely take part in the procreation of regulations and policies related to the automotive industry.

SIAM opens a new window of opportunities for the Indian Automobile industry, so that it can break free into global scene, get involved in trade relations with different markets, and develop together in a progressive environment with the world.

The 52nd Annual Auto Convention will be mustered around the theme 'Auto Industry: India in Changing World Order'.

The Indian auto industry has been an exciting new revelation for the global auto majors in last few years as the Indian markets grew at an alarming rate despite the global recession and the Indian automotive industry contributed a significant fraction to the nation's overall Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The auto industry in India accounts for over 7 per cent of overall GDP of the country and currently employs over 17 million people. These astounding statistics have baffled the economists, who have termed the industry as one of the most important in India. The government has also acknowledged the importance of auto industry to the economy and has promised full cooperation to its development.

This year's Auto Convention will cater to the contentious matters faced by the Indian auto industry and will also debate on its global impact and measures required for cementing a strong global position. Issues such as growth, improvement and future policies will also be discussed.

Over the years, several global automotive dignitaries have presided over the convention like Fiat Head Sergio Marchionne, Bernd Bohr of Bosch, and General Motors' Fritz Henderson among others. Important decision makers of the Indian Government, top industry experts and all heads of the auto majors based India and abroad are expected to attend the event.

Pawan Goenka, Head of Mahindra (Automobile Division), currently serves as the President of SIAM, while S Sandilya, CEO, Eicher Group is the Vice President along with Dilip Chenoy as the Director General.
