Renault India that recently rolled out the Lodgy, is now planning to add few more variants in the MPV's line-up. One such variant will be the Stepway, which was earlier showcased at the 2015 StarGuild Awards and was presented to the Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan. The Lodgy Stepway is basically a beefed up version of the regular Lodgy MPV with several premium features. Since it will be a more feature-loaded version, the company will position it top-of-the-line.
The Stepway model showcased at the event in India was the same model that was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. Compared to the regular variant, this model gets additional features that add sporty touch to it. It features 'Stepway' badging on the doors, skid guards, side body cladding and chrome embellished grille. It is expected to get a touch-screen infotainment system, which is offered on the Duster SUV as well.
The new variant will be powered by the same 1.5--litre K9K diesel engine that powers the regular variant. Though the engine is available in two states of tunes - 85PS and 110PS, the Stepway variant will get the latter one paired to a six-speed manual transmission.
The new Lodgy MPV directly competes against the likes of Toyota Innova, Honda Mobilio, Maruti Ertiga and the upcoming Chevrolet Spin. With the Stepway variant, the company will target premium family car buyers. It is expected to be priced little higher than the current top-end variant.
