Volvo has plans to add another plug-in hybrid model in its line-up on the occasion of Shanghai Auto Show. This will be the S60L T6 Twin Engine, which follows the V60 D6 Twin mill. Volvo has some amazing names in this line previously like the V60 D5 Twin Engine and the XC90 T8, which is the latest production plug-in.

The Volvo S60L T6 Twin Engine has been built at the Chengdu plant in China and is a combined machine of a 238 PS Drive-E four-cylinder 2.0-litre petrol mill and a 68 PS (50 kW) electric motor. IT drives the rear axle and comes with an 11.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The total output of the system will be 306 PS with a peak torque output of 350 Nm + 200 Nm. The CO2 emissions have been rated at 49 g per kilometre only. The S60L T6 Twin Engine is also capable of covering 53 kilometres, when powered by battery alone. The car has also been reported to be capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 5.6 seconds only.

Alain Visser, Senior Vice President of the Global Marketing of Sales and Services Department at the Volvo Car Group said, “We are delighted to signal the start of sales in China of our brand new S60L T6 Twin Engine. The Chinese consumer is ready for this product. Our offer of no compromise performance and efficiency, coupled with very clear ownership benefits, means that we are perfectly positioned in the growing plug-in hybrid market.”

Also one of the other perks associated with the S60L T6 Twin engine is the hard-to-obtain Shanghai license plate. Also, Volvo has mentioned that it will launch two new Twin Engine models every year. The sales of this new engine begin on the 22nd of April in China.
