Renault will be launching its newest and smallest hatchback for the Indian car market - the Kwid. This hatchback will be competing with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon. The French automaker has recently unveiled its latest offering and we even got our hands on this hatchback.

The Renault Kwid is powered by a 800cc petrol engine that churns about 52 bhp of power and comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. There will also be an automated manual transmission offered in the near future but not at the moment.

The Renault Kwid has about 98 percent of localisation which is higher than the Maruti Alto as well. Renault has made this new hatchback on the new CMF-A platform, which makes it modern and up-to-date. It has a ground clearance of 180mm and a boot capacity of 300 litres, which makes it better than the competition. Even in features it gets a new touchscreen system with satellite navigation and a digital instrument cluster. These are first in class features in an entry level hatchback. Renault well be offering a more powerful 1.0-litre petrol engine in the near future to complete with the Alto K10.
