Honda looks all set to re-launch its popular D-segment car, the Civic, in India sometime end next year. The Japanese car maker has already revealed the tenth generation version and from the looks of it, the production version borrows heavily from the Acura ILX. The Civic was indeed a popular car as it was ahead of its time with an unconventional design and premium interiors. Unfortunately, Honda had to discontinue the Civic in 2012 after facing heat from diesel rivals.
The tenth generation Honda Civic by far is similar to nothing we have ever seen from the brand. The front profile gets a meaty chrome bar along with sleek headlights. The outline of the headlight features neat day time running lights giving it a premium look. To the side, it gets a flared arch above the front wheels while the rear gets a fastback styling as seen on premium models. It looks dimensionally longer and wider than the previous generation. The rear gets classy c-shaped tail lights.
“This tenth-generation Civic is quite simply the most ambitious remake of Civic we've ever done," said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co, Inc. “We are bringing more new technology and innovative thinking to Civic than ever before to establish a new benchmark for fun-to-drive performance, fuel efficiency, safety performance and refinement in the compact class."
Inside the new Honda Civic, the interiors have been completely changed for a more modern and sporty feel. The increase in dimensions, especially width, has also resulted in a better cabin space for occupants. We hope the sloping roofline, cause of the fastback styling, doesn’t eat on the headroom of the rear row passengers. It will be very well equipped in terms of features and options. The touchscreen unit mounted on the centre will be compatible with Android Auto and Car Play.
Honda was developed a new 1.4-litre four cylinder turbocharged engine which will make way in the new generation Honda Civic for its impressive performance and efficiency. This is motor will churn out an impressive 30 bhp more than the earlier, making a total of 203 bhp. There will also be an alternate 2.0-litre 16-valve DOHC motor powering the base variants paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic box.
