Peugeot, the French car maker, has pulled up its socks in order to return to India in a big way. Proving the fact is the testing of its cars on the Indian soil. Recently a few models of the car maker were spotted on the Mumbai express way without any intentions to conceal the appearance of the cars.

Peugeot 207 hatchback and the Peugeot 508 luxury sedans were spied on the Mumbai-Pune expressway carrying temporary MH (Maharashtra) registration number plates.

Both the models from Peugeot namely Peugeot 207 and Peugeot 508 have a luxury quotient embedded in them. The 207 is Peugeot’s premium hatchback and after it is launched in India, the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i20 et al would face intense competition. Hence, the French car maker is expected to go short on the rear bumper and reduce the front overhang at the front of the model. Thus move would ensure that the 207 Peugeot model adheres to the small car excise norms in the country.

The 207’s front part comprises a large-sized Peugeot logo, at the centre, to be exact and a large air dam fitted skilfully to the front bumper which provides a long and large look to the car, may be more than the actual size of the car. The design of the headlamp seems to offer a contemporary look, elongating the fenders. The external rear view mirrors are stalk mounted which exaggerates the overall width to the car.

Peugeot 508 can undoubtedly be termed as the one of the most elegant and stylish sedans in its segment in India. The 508 is expected to compete against names like the Skoda Laura, Renault Fluence and Chevrolet Cruze. The 508 is a great example of a dynamic design with a flawless European design theme.

The front part of the 508 model has a floating style, large grille that is complimented perfectly by the well-designed headlamp units comprising LED daytime running lamps as well as bi-xenon directional headlamps. The hood of the car gets a sensible look and contours that underline the large Peugeot logo.

From the sides, the car has a traditional and simple profile with a longer front overhang compared to the rear. The chrome-edged windows make up for the luxurious look that it possesses. The roof flows down towards the rear like a coupe and thus is able to camouflage the actual car size. The tail-lamp cluster has a pair of three vertical rows of LED lights. The trunk gives an upward look and gets a thin horizontal chrome line that highlights the car’s width.

Thus, India is all set to play host to the launch of the Peugeot 207 and Peugeot 508 models, which would be rolling out for the first time in India.
