The patent drawings of the new-generation Honda Civic’s dashboard design have been leaked ahead of its launch by the end of 2015 in the US. The 2016 Honda Civic (close-to-production) was showcased at the 2015 New York Auto Show.

Ditching the split design, the new Civic's dashboard now looks more elegant and has better material quality. The spy shots suggest that next-gen Civic will feature automatic climate control, a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel and 2 DIN audio system, while the 7-inch touchscreen HondaLink infotainment system might be available only on the top-end variant. The centre console will get HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) controls and a big storage compartment. The E-CON driving mode and traction control buttons will be positioned on the center tunnel.

The 2016 Civic will continue to feature the 1.8-litre i-VTEC engine that powers the existing model. This engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual and a CVT (continuously variable transmission) transmission. For the European markets, the sedan is available with a 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine.

Based on the Accord’s platform (shortened version), the new Civic will be longer than the existing model. Features on offer could be new “Flying H” grille with optional LED headlamps, revised lower fascia design, rear tail lights, an Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, i-MID (intelligent multi-information display) system with a larger display and improved interface.
