Shelby American, a company manufacturing modified cars and parts, which also replicates small as well as large block AC Cobras, Shelby GT350, etc, has gained vast popularity nowadays. Established in 1962, the company is celebrating 50th anniversary of its FIA version of small block Cobra, which hit the market and gained a high demand back in 1964.
The celebrations of the Golden Jubilee include the launch of Shelby Cobra 289 FIA - a special edition design. It is evident that only 50 examples of this variant are fabricated and put up on sale by Shelby American. This 50th anniversary Cobra has a Viking blue colored body with hand laid fiberglass and formed aluminum. Equipped with the 50th anniversary signs and symbols, it also comprises of detachable steering wheel, complete exhaust system and a special Golden Jubilee Cover.
The black vinyl interiors add to the charm of the car. The other features will also be available in the variant like unique Shelby issued CSX serial numbers and MSO issued by Shelby, among others. The Cobra, along with giving a vintage look, complies with the demands of the present generation engines and this is where Shelby American excels, and takes in the upper hand.
Buying this limited edition can be a little hard on your pocket as you will have to spend somewhere around $120,000, which rounds off to about Rs. 76 lakhs. Spending this amount on a car seems to be a big deal with a twist to it. The $120,000 spent on this won’t fetch you an engine or a gearbox. Assembly of these components will have to be done on a different level.
