      Nissan to launch new MUV against Innova in August 2012

      After marking its debut in the mass segment with compact hatchback Micra and entry level sedan Sunny, the Japanese auto giant is now all set to launch a city oriented multi utility vehicle in the Indian market in August 2012. According to the company, the all new Nissan NV 200 will be showcased at the forthcoming Delhi International Auto Expo, where it is expected to grab a major attraction at the Nissan’s platform. The new Nissan NV200 model will be rivaling with the segment leader Toyota Innova In the country.

      The new Nissan NV 200 has been developed in partnership with commercial vehicle giant Ashok Leyland, though the car will be carrying only Nissan badge, as per the tie-up. The Nissan – Ashok Leyland tie-up has already launched a 1.25-ton mini truck – Dost.

      Nissan India currently has a giant car manufacturing plant at Chennai to which it has established in partnership with French car maker Renault. The plant has a capacity to produce 2,00,000 units of car per annum and the company is looking forward to enhance this capacity to 4 lakh units by the end of next year.

      The majority of Nissan India’s production exported to the overseas markets as the company is yet to make a mark in the Indian market. At present, over 80 percent production of Nissan is exported to the overseas market.
