      BMW i3 and i8 concept electric hybrid cars unveiled!

      Luxury car maker BMW, has unveiled futuristic hybrid concepts i3 and i8 at the LA Auto Show on November 16, 2011. Both of these models are much awaited among the hybrid and electric car enthusiasts around the world.

      The i3 is basically an electric concept vehicle which will be launched in the world market in year 2013. The BMW i3 has been made considerably light weight with the help of carbon fiber in the body of the car. The car has been designed for urban drivers with coach styled doors at both front and rear side. The doors of BMW i3 open-up swinging at the center of the vehicle. i3 is a fully electric car that will have a capacity of achieving 130 to 160 km in a single charge. Moreover, there will be an optional small gas engine that can recharge the battery whenever needed.

      i8 on the other hand is electric hybrid sports car that carries a sleek silhouette along with two winged doors made of glass. The car hosts a battery and a gas engine at its heart that work in tandem to offer considerably higher efficiency. With gas engine of the i8 powers front wheels, the battery powers rear wheels. If run only battery, the car has a range of covering a distance of just 32 km, however, it takes just 2 hours for a complete charge.
