      Nissan Terrano gets 6,000 pre-bookings

      Witnessing decent success of compact sports utility vehicle segment, Nissan India has introduced its Terrano model in the Indian automobile market. This utility vehicle, launched on 9th October, 2013 has already cumulated 6000 pre-bookings, as confirmed by the company officials. A company official reportedly said, “Terrano product range include seven variants with three engine options. Terrano price range to start from Rs. 9.58 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai). Since the unveil (last month), pre-sales bookings are around 6,000 units.” Nissan India President Kenichiro Yomura also said, “Terrano is an important product for us and will set the pace for future product launches slated for 2014..."

      He also stated that Nissan Terrano, which has been priced from Rs. 9.58 lakh onwards, can be availed by customers in seven variants, across three engine options namely 108 bhp diesel, 83 bhp diesel and 102 bhp petrol. Incidentally, the auto company jointly manufactures the compact SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) along with the France-based auto major Renault at the Rs. 4,400 crore manufacturing facility that is situated at Oragadam near Chennai.

      The utility vehicles currently are hot favourites among customers and car enthusiasts in the country. This dynamic drift can be realised my all major companies who strive to launch different products conforming to this prevalent utility vehicle-wave in order to get more domestic attention. Incidentally, earlier, the introduction of compact utility vehicles like Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster was highly appreciated by customers and critics alike. On similar grounds, these utility vehicles did manage to stir the market with impressive sales and are still going strong. The craze for utility vehicles is also evident from the recent success of Mahindra Scorpio. Incidentally, Mahindra & Mahindra has just launched the special edition of Scorpio with additional features to get more customers for its utility vehicles. Nissan Terrano's launch in the Indian automobile market too can be seen following the same aforementioned trend, though in the compact SUV segment.

      Incidentally, Nissan Terrano will be the first locally manufactured compact sports utility vehicle from Nissan brand in India. This vehicle is available for customers with two engine options, petrol and diesel engines. The petrol version is powered by a K4M petrol engine while the diesel variant gets its power from a K9K diesel powertrain. Also, as mentioned above, the diesel engine comes with two different power outputs, 108 bhp and 83 bhp. The diesel variant of Terrano has been mated with an option of either 6-speed or a 5-speed gearbox.

      Nissan Terrano 83 bhp diesel version is available with a price tag starting from Rs. 9.58 lakh (XE variant) while the top-end XL Plus is priced at Rs. 10.92 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai). On the other hand, the 108 bhp diesel XL variant is being offered at Rs. 11.31 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai) and premium variant XV Premium at Rs. 12.44 lakh. Nissan Terrano 102 bhp petrol XL variant can be availed at a price of Rs. 9.78 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai).
