On the back of good sales that the Scorpio Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) has seen off late, Mahindra & Mahindra has now launched the Special Edition with additional features to lure more customers. This company initiative can also be seen as a measure taken to make most of the festive season that is currently going on in the country. Quite notably, Mahindra & Mahindra, India's highest selling utility vehicle maker, has done well to assert to an aggressive price strategy. This pepped-up special edition version of Scorpio SUV is available to customers at a retail price of Rs. 11.88 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi).
The auto company has rolled out only 500 units of this special edition for sales in the country. The new updated variant is now available in a pearl white colour and flaunts enhanced interiors and exteriors. To make for an appealing appearance, the special version now gets chrome plated alloy wheels and racy decals. Interiors, too, have been spiced up a little more with high gloss wood finish central bezel, gear shift and gear knob, leather seats with encasing of leather on the steering wheel and a roof mounted 9"inch DVD player for the passenger sitting at the back.

The special edition of utility vehicle Scorpio will come equipped with a fuel efficient 2.2-litre, 4 cylinder mHawk diesel engine that can deliver an output of 120 bhp. With a powerful engine boosting the performance of the vehicle, this new version can easily cruise past from 0 to 60 kmph in just 5.7 seconds. The new edition will be high on safety and security aspects as well. For ensuring a safe drive, it will come with different safeguards like ABS (Anti lock braking System) and Airbags. Furthermore, the new version will also see the incorporation of an EST (Extra Stability Technology) Suspension system that enables greater stability and also accounts for a comfortable ride on even challenging terrains.
The auto major is extremely confident that this limited new edition of Scorpio would be highly appreciated by both, customers and market critics. An array of features has been included in the Scorpio Limited Edition, such as intellipark with sensors in the rear bumper for easy reverse parking, and intelligent rain and light sensors to automatically control wipers and headlights. This new edition also boasts of Tyre-Tronics that is a sophisticated measuring system for an update on exact air pressure and temperature on each tyre.
Incidentally, Mahindra Scorpio has been around in the Indian automobile market for over a decade now. Although the auto company has so far sold over 4 lakh Scorpio vehicles, the major sales have floated-in since last two years. Notably, this utility vehicle has averaged an annual sales of 50,000 units in last two years. Also, after being driven past by Renault Duster in the last one year, Scorpio has been able to make a strong comeback while posting decent sale numbers. Earlier, this utility vehicle had seen a sale of 4345 units in September, 3356 in August and 3256 units in July as against Renault Duster's 3973, 2,967 and 3089 units for the same months, respectively.
