Ford India will launch three new cars this year- the Figo compact sedan, the new-generation Figo and 2015 Endeavour SUV. While the Figo siblings are likely to go on sale in the first half of 2015, the new Endeavour will be launched in India by the end of this year. Ahead of its launch, technical specifications of the car have been leaked onto the interweb.
The Endeavour to be sold internationally will be made available in three engine options - two diesel and one petrol. The India-spec model is likely to get the 2.2-litre 4-cylinder and 3.2-litre 5-cylinder turbo diesel units. While the former is capable of developing 148bhp of power and 385Nm of torque, the five-pot larger motor is good for 197bhp and 470Nm of torque. A six-speed manual transmission gearbox will be offered as standard, while an automatic transmission will come as an option. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheels, while the company will also introduce the latest all-wheel drive layout with the Terrain Sensing feature. Both RWD and AWD variants will make its way to the Indian market.
Based on the same ladder frame chassis layout, the 2015 Endeavour dimensionally will be smaller than the current model. It measures 4,882mm in length, 1,862mm in width, 1,836mm in height and has a large wheelbase of 2,850mm. On the other hand, the current model is 5,060mm long and has a wheelbase of 2,860mm. Moreover, the kerb weight of the upcoming model is 2,370kg which is slightly more than the outgoing model.
