Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has officially announced the launch of much-awaited CB Unicorn 160 in the Indian market on December 18, 2014. After its national launch, the bike will be introduced in a phased manner across the nation in coming weeks. The bike has already been spotted a couple of times during its test rounds, and recently been photographed while an Ad shoot.

Adopting the company’s conventional design language, the new Honda CB Unicorn 160 is likely to share most of its styling cues with the Trigger. Honda had launched the Trigger in 150-160cc segment, but it failed to generate more volumes for the maker. With the new CB Unicorn 160, the company aims to tap a bigger share in the growing segment. The bike gets few new elements that give it a refreshing look. The front fascia gets bike fairing, while the instrument cluster is borrowed from the Trigger. Other than these, the bike gets new side panels, tank shrouds and newly designed fuel tank. The engine and other sections of the bike get black theme, while the taillight gets X-shaped design.

The Honda CB Unicorn 160 is likely to be powered by a tuned-up version of the current 150cc engine, which is expected to develop 15bhp of power. This engine is coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox. The front of the bike is coupled to a disc type brake, while the rear gets drum type brakes. It will compete against the likes of Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ F1 V2.0, TVS Apache RTR and upcoming Hero Xtreme Sport.
