Mitsubishi, the Japanese carmaker, has announced to launch an all-new MPV to take on the likes of Maruti Ertiga and Honda Mobilio. The company has, in fact, teased the compact MPV, which will first go on sale in the Indonesian market in 2017.
The teaser image of the MPV shows only the silhouette. The teaser reveals limited details about the design of the car, showing the side body along with the aggressive window line. It is expected that the compact MPV will be based on the Mitsubishi Concept AR, which was unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
The company reveals that the MPV is currently under development, but the vehicle will only go on sale by August 2017. The car is expected to feature a 1.5-litre petrol engine. According to the Mitsubishi, the compact MPV will offer sporty and tough appearance, and features upmarket interiors. It will be a spacious MPV to accommodate seven adults.
Mitsubishi is yet to reveal whether the compact MPV will be launched in the Indian market or not. Though seeing the growing demand for compact MPVs and SUVs here, we believe that the Japanese maker could introduce the car in India. If it comes to India, it will get both petrol and diesel fuel options. The company is also planning to launch the Attrage sedan and Mirage hatchback in the country to target the mass market segments. Moreover, the new generation Outlander and Montero SUVs will also make their way to our market in 2015-16.
