Mercedes-Benz to commence production of SLC in alliance with AMG in 2014Mercedes-Benz has joined hands with its subsidiary, AMG that specializes in the manufacture of high performance luxury cars for the production of SLC. The Mercedes-Benz SLC is a trimmed down version of the SLS AMG, the luxury grand tourer roadster and will be channeled into production lines by the year 2014.
The German automaker has associated with AMG for the production of the new SLC owing to the fact that AMG models effectively amalgamates higher performance with better handling and better stability. Mercedes-Benz SLC will be lighter and smaller in size as compared to the SLS AMG since the car will comprise extensive usage of carbon fiber and aluminum.
Mercedes-Benz SLC is said to be launched in the year 2014 as a 2015 model in coupe body style with the regular side hinged doors while the convertible enthusiasts can expect its release in cabriolet version by 2016.
The SLC is expected to be loaded with a highly robust 4.0L V8 engine that can outpour a top output of 500 bhp while plans are also devised to introduce the car with a smaller V6 engine that can deliver a peak power of 350 bhp.
It is buzzed that the Mercedes-Benz SLC will be shelved at a price range of around $130,000 or more and its fierce entry in the global auto market will give a stiff rivalry to the segment leaders Porsche 911 and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
