      Maruti Suzuki India domestic sales rise by 9.8 per cent in September

      India’s largest auto maker, Maruti Suzuki India has registered 9.8 percent growth in domestic sales in the month of September, 2014. MSI sold a total of 99,290 units last month as compared to 90,399 units sold in the same month corresponding year. From mini vehicle segment that includes hatchbacks like Alto range, Wagon R and compact segment that comprise of flagship Swift hatchback, Ritz, Celerio and Dzire CS (according to the SIAM’s classification Dzire is now a part of compact segment from August) the collective contribution stood at 81,447 units. As compared to the same time last year MSI sold 78,975 units of the above mentioned vehicles, therefore registering rise in sales by 3.1 per cent in these segments. While the UV segment that comprises of Gypsy, Ertiga chipped in only 5980 units and vans like Omni and Eeco contributed 11863 units towards September sales.Hence the domestic sales for September 2014 stood at 99,290 units.

      On the export front, Maruti Suzuki India witnessed slump at 10,452 units shipped last month as against 14,565 units exported in the same month in 2013. There has been a rise by 4.6 per cent in collective sales in September 2014 (domestic and export) at 10,9742 units juxtaposed to 10,4964 units sold at the same time in 2013.

      So far this year MSI has sold around 621,792 units including domestic sales and export which is 14.7 per cent more than last year when the company sold 54,2020 units by this time.

      The company is on brink of introducing its new mid-sized sedan, Ciaz on October 6th bookings for which have already commenced since September 1, 2014. With the onset of festive season and a new vehicle coming in this week it is expected that MSI will witness further surge in sales in the month of October.
