Skoda India made its presence felt with the upmarket Octavia sedan in the country. The Rapid sedan as part of performance sedan offering from Czech carmaker Skoda has also been a hot seller in the Indian market. Recently, Skoda has launched the new Rapid at a starting price tag of about Rs. 7,22,230 (Ex-Showroom). “The newly launched Rapid reflects our commitment to introduce innovative products of global standards in India. It is a comfortable car for the family with an elegant design, ensuring an efficient and an extremely safe drive. The DSG transmission further accentuates the dynamic driving pleasure of the Rapid car. We have very ambitious long term plans for the Indian market; the Rapid along with our renewed focus on ownership experience will form the cornerstone of our future strategy,” said Mr. Sudhir Rao, Chairman and Managing Director ŠKODA Auto India during launch.
The freshest of the lot Skoda Rapid is available in shades of Brilliant Silver, Candy White, Cappuccino Beige, Deep Black Pearl, Flash Red and the new Toffee Brown colour. Apart from the new 7-Speed SDG automatic transmission the new Rapid also gets a 1.5 Liter TDI engine. Cabin cooling gets even better with the new Climatronic function. For entertainment the sedan is loaded with 2-DIN ŠKODA audio player with USB and Auxiliary audio input along with large format display. The “Škoda Remote” app that allows radio to be controlled remotely on iOS and Android enabled devices. As part of fresh upgrades, the new Skoda Rapid features like fog lamps, headlamps, multi-spoke alloys, external mirror and grille with logo-lip.
As for safety, the new Skoda Rapid features fuel supply cut-off function in case of an accident. The sedan is also loaded with features like electronic theft deterrence module that also includes engine immobilizer with floating code system. Moreover, the audio player also gets a security code to prevent unauthorized usage. For complete control, the new Skoda Rapid gets features like ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), EBC (Engine Braking Control), dual rate brake assist, height adjustable head restraints at front and rear, driver and front passenger airbags.
