      Maruti Suzuki Ertiga to launch today in India, branching out a new segment called compact MPV

      In a bid to launch a vehicle exclusively for the Indian buyers, country’s largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki India is launching a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) Ertiga marking a strong entry of the company in the utility vehicle segment along with branching out a brand new segment of compact MPV in the versatile Indian auto market.

      Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been introduced as a seven seater car that enthralled car enthusiasts across the globe at its debut at the 2012 Delhi International Auto Expo. The company claims to have designed the vehicle on the theme of togetherness and hence has named it as LUV – Life Utility Vehicle owing to its unique compact proportions well team up with ample space and a whole package of innovative features.

      The compact MPV is set to be manufactured at the company’s Gurgaon production facility with the sales target of 5000 units of Ertiga per month. Moreover, Maruti Suzuki’s bestselling model, Swift will be lending the platform for production of Ertiga, which will further incorporate minor styling transitions customized for the Indian buyers and their brand preferences.

      The Ertiga is powered with the debut of K-14 VVT 1.4 litre petrol engine that has been introduced for the first time by the company in its Indian range. The MPV is also anticipated to be launched in diesel version.

      The compact MPV that promises delivery of class leading performance and efficieny along with refined interiors will be priced by the company in range between Rs. 5 Lakhs to Rs. 10 Lakhs signifying the MPV segment bifurcation to a segment competing with both sedan and MPVs in the Indian auto market.
