With only a few days left for MSI’s Ciaz launch in India slated in first week of October, pre-launch booking numbers have already crossed 5000 mark. This reflects anticipation for the sedan among customers. If media reports are to be believed, the launch date has been pre-poned to an earlier date which was otherwise slated to go on sale near Diwali. Ciaz is expected to be rolled out in four trim levels in a total of eight variants. It has been learnt that the automatic variant of the sedan is getting good response from the customers thanks to its ARAI certified fuel economy of 19.12 kmpl. The Honda City rivalling sedan will come incorporated with a string of features such as projector head lamps, newly designed 16 inch alloy wheels, a touchscreen entertainment system, climate control, ABS, dual airbags, rear AC vents, Bluetooth phone connectivity, push button stop-start system among others.
Engine set up includes a 1.4 litre K-Series petrol engine and a 1.3 litre Fiat sourced Multijet diesel engine. The petrol engine is good for 92PS/130 Nm while the diesel engine is capable of developing a top power output of 90PS along with 200 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines have been borrowed from Ertiga. The petrol variant is vouched to return 20.7 kmpl of mileage while the diesel variant is claimed to deliver segment best fuel economy of 26.2 kmpl. Both the engines will work in sync with a five-speed manual transmission, other than this an automatic gearbox will also be offered on the petrol variant.
