The ongoing stand-off at Maruti Suzuki India’s Manesar plant is now started affecting the production of other models of the company as well. As per the recent media reports, the ongoing workers strike may cause delay in the exports of Maruti’s flagship export model – A-Star.

As per a recent statement given by the top official of the company, the worker’s strike may have an adverse impact on the exports of Maruti Suzuki from India that ships out at least 2 to 3 shipments on monthly basis to the overseas markets.

The Manesar plant of Maruti Suzuki is majorly responsible for the manufacture of the popular premium hatchback Swift. Besides Maruti Swift, the Manesar plant also manufactures about 150 units of SX4 and up to 400 units of A-Star, during the peak periods.

At present, the major export markets for Maruti Suzuki Indian include Europe, South America, Asia and Africa. While in Europe, the A-Star model is sold as Alto, in other countries, it is sold with the name Celerio. Moreover, the same A-Star model has been sold by Nissan as Pixo hatchback in the European market.

The trouble for Maruti is not going to end soon, as both management and workers are yet to come on a negotiation. Meanwhile, the company has stopped receiving bookings for the recently launched Swift model, as its production has been partially halted since August 29th.
