Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Limited, the country's leading utility vehicle maker, has declared to increase the production capacities of three of its best selling models so as to bring down their waiting periods, with immediate effect. It has been revealed that the monthly production yield of XUV500 has been hiked to 4500 units, Quanto to 3500 units, and the SsangYong Rexton to 500 units. The decision is believed to have been fuelled by the overwhelming demand witnessed among domestic car enthusiasts, for the three aforementioned models, which lead to their rising waiting periods in the country.

M&M's announcement of hiking production capacities of Quanto, XUV500 and SsangYong Rexton, will facilitate in ensuring swift deliveries to owners having already booked the vehicle. Further, the move will benefit those customers who are planning to purchase the concerned Mahindra brands, by bringing down their waiting periods. Additionally, the company has also opened bookings of Quanto, XUV500 and Rexton Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs), across more centres on the Indian turf.

As per industry sources, M&M recorded more than 12,000 bookings of its Quanto compact SUV, within just two months of the vehicle's launch in Indian auto market, last year. The company claims that the deliveries of its XUV500 premium SUV are going on as per schedule, at the moment. M&M introduced its most expensive premium SUV SsangYong Rexton last year, and the vehicle has already been booked over 1500 times in the country. At present, the Rexton is offered in 9 locations and the company is planning to launch the premium SUV in few more Indian cities, starting this month.

Expressing his views on the capacity expansion, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Automotive Division, M&M, was quoted as saying, “While we have been overwhelmed at the response from our customers to all the three products which are at different price points, we thought it best to expand capacities so that prospective customers are not inconvenienced with long waiting periods. Being a customer centric company, we have always wanted our products to be conveniently available to our customers with a minimum waiting period. In addition, with their launch across more centres in India, we are sure that that our products will continue to offer a unique value proposition for buyers.”
