Mahindra’s upcoming commuter motorcycle Arro's production-ready model has been recently caught testing in India. The production-ready version of the bike features a single front headlight with chrome finishing, LED tail lamps, flashy gadgets, black plastic cladding on the fuel tank, a functional analog instrument console, pass light switch and turn indicators with orange finish. Already on sale in Uganda, the Arro takes its design cues from the Centruo and the Pantero.
The spied model is equipped with front alloy wheel and rear spoked wheel, so we can expect that the bike will be offered in both versions. It will get a telescopic and a dual shocks suspension on front and rear axles respectively. Power for the Arro will come from a 106.7cc, MCi-5-single-cylinder engine, which is the same engine that is found in the Centuro and Pantero. Mated with a 4-speed transmission, this engine delivers a maximum power of 8.7PS with a peak torque of 8.5Nm. Though, it is likely to be detuned for better fuel economy.
In Uganda, the Mahindra Arro is available at UGX 29, 90, 000 (Rs. 69, 879). However, the Indian-spec model, being a low-budget commuter, is expected to be price very competitively. It might be priced around Rs.40, 000. Upon its launch, the Mahindra Arro will compete against the likes of Baja Platina ES, Honda Dream Neo and Hero CD Dawn. The launch details are still unclear, though it's expected to arrive by the end of this year.
