Maruti, the auto giant in India came up with the diesel version of its compact and stylish Maruti Swift Vxi in the Indian market on 17th of August 2011. Owing to the performance and street presence of the previous model, this one is expected to be at the top in the sales list of Maruti in the coming festive season. Maruti has come up with various promising features in its new segment of Swift diesel cars. This new launch is likely to give a tough competition to its rivals, such as Ford Figo and the Volkswagen Polo.
Managing director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, Shinzo Nakanishi said, "The new Swift will create new benchmarks with its improved fuel efficiency, stylish and sportier looks and high performance." After such promising words, the new Swift is expected to add on to the glory of Maruti's Swift segment. As been stated by Maruti, the new Swift will be lighter than the previous Swift segments and would be available in both the petrol as well as diesel variants. According to the claim, the petrol variant would be offering a fuel economy of 18.6 kmpl, whereas the diesel variant would be delivering a fuel economy of 22.9kmpl.
The introduction of diesel variants in this segment has been a good move by Maruti as it was a drawback in the previous models. By launching this new version, the sales of Maruti are expected increase swiftly. In order to meet the growing demands in the Indian market, the company has decided to raise the production of its cars to 18000 units per month from 12000 units earlier. On comparing the new Maruti Swift and the already existing Swift cars, the difference in their performance is clearly visible.
New Swift would be coming with a K12 Suzuki K series engine, which is similar to the engine of the existing models, but the change in the transmission has been on the cards. 5-speed manual transmission gearbox integrated with a K series engine, enables this car to perform better in terms of power, torque and acceleration. Several changes have been done in the exteriors of the new Swift, including the dimensions that have been changed to provide more stable ride. The new Swift is expected to be taller than the existing Swift by 155 m. The little increase in the width also, has added up to the increase of space inside the car.
The interiors of this car have also been improved with the use of better quality plastic inside the car as compared other cars of this segment. Other added features, such as increased boot space, improved central console and integrated audio system has been its highlighting points. The major highlight of this car has been its availability as a diesel variant. As diesel adds to the efficiency of the engine and helps in generating more power, the new Swift Diesel act as a powerful and better car than the existing Swift models. In terms of the price, the new Swift would be available between the price range of Rs.4.22 lac and Rs.6.38 lac.
