The prices of the fifth generation Land Rover Discovery has already been announced in India. Now, the SUV is yet to make a public debut in the country which it will do so on October 28.
The Discovery is the flag-ship SUV under the Land Rover Brand and is positioned above the Discovery Sport in the Indian car market. Designed from the ground up, the Discovery boasts of the latest aluminium-infused chassis technology from the British marque. While it has lost a lot of weight, it has gained curves thanks to Land Rover’s new design style that has begun with the Discovery Sport. With the high hood and imposing LED headlamps, flared wheel arches, a tall roof-line and large wheels give it all the required muscle. On the inside, the Discovery still goes for the rugged bare-bones feel but it is now blended with luxury and features. Being a premium SUV, the Land Rover Discovery gets all the bells and whistles especially in the fully-loaded First Edition trim. The trims start from S, through SE, HSE and HSE Luxury in the ascending level of equipment.
Under the hood sits a 3.0-litre petrol or turbo-diesel engine developing 255bhp and 335bhp of power respectively. This makes it a strong contender in the full-size luxury SUV segment. The five-seater SUV also gets a seven-seat option and comes mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox driving all four wheels.
The Land Rover Discovery competes with likes of the Volvo XC90, the Audi Q7, the BMW X5 and the Mercedes GLE along with the Jaguar F-Pace and the entry-level Porsche Macan.
