Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed officially that the next big launch from the British car marquee will be the new generation Discovery Sport. The new SUV will be the first vehicle to be launched under the all new Land Rover Discovery range. JLR is expected to launch the first SUV under the new generation Discovery Sport range this year only. The company also confirmed that the SUV will be built at the Halewood manufacturing unit located in UK for which JLR has done an investment of 200 million pounds. Currently, JLR manufactures its compact SUV, Range Rover Evoque at the Halewood unit, however further investment will be done in order to commence production of Discovery Sport.
Confirming the news, Ralf Speth, CEO, Jaguar Land Rover said, “The Land Rover Discovery Sport is the next in a line of exciting new products to come from Jaguar Land Rover.I am delighted that Halewood and Liverpool has been selected for this new investment."
The new SUV is said to have taken cues from Discovery Vision Concept that was exhibited at the New York International Auto Show. More information will be revealed at the time of launch.
