Hyundai has added a new variant dubbed, ‘Eco’ to the 2015 Sonata saloon range. The South Korean auto maker will soon be launching the new Sonata in US market. Details and official images of the new variant have been revealed by the auto maker.
John Shon, Manager, Product Planning, said, "Sonata Eco enhances the sophisticated design and confidence-inspiring driving dynamics of the 2015 Sonata with even more impressive fuel economy. This innovative powertrain improves fuel efficiency without sacrificing the driving experience."
Powering the variant is a 1.6 litre turbocharged Gamma four cylinder engine that is good for a top power and torque output of 175 Bhp and 264 Nm respectively. A seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox is coupled to the frugal engine that is claimed to return a decent fuel economy of 12 kms in a litre in city conditions and around 16 kms in a litre on highways. The Eco variant is said to offer slightly improved mileage as compared to the SE trim equipped with 2.4 litre motor.
The Eco trim is inherited with all the features available on SE variant, besides that Hyundai has also equipped additional features like chrome grille, side mirror-mounted turn signal indicators, automatic headlights, a 10-way power driver seat with lumbar support, stitching on the instrument cluster hood, chrome interior door handles, 5-inch colour touchscreen audio, a rear view backup camera and Hyundai's Blue Link telematics system.
