Figo based compact sedan christened KA+ for Brazilian market has been launched in Brazil at a prelusive price of RS 37,890 that equals to Rs 10 lakh. Ford will bring the sedan to India with a different name, ‘Figo sedan’ by next year. Ford India displayed Figo sedan concept in India a day ahead of grand opening of 2014 Auto Expo held in the first week of February at Greater Noida. Brazil spec sedan measures a tad more than 4 meters, however the Indian model will be a sub-four meter sedan attracting low excise duty. Underpinning the Figo hatchback, Figo sedan is nothing but a extended version of the former.
The only variation that can be identified in both the vehicles is the reworked front bumper equipped in Figo sedan. Features that bear close resemblance with the ones offered on Figo hatch comprise of tail lamp cluster including greenhouse and doors. Similarities can also be seen inside the cabin, features like Ford’s latest SYNC multimedia infotainment system with AppLink system are likely to be common in the both vehicles. Dashboard design resemble with the one incorporated in Fiesta sedan.
Powering KA+ sedan is a 1.5 litre flex-fuel engine that currently powers Fiesta sedan. The 1.5 litre engine is capable of outputting a maximum power of 109 Bhp and is coupled to a five speed manual gearbox. In India, both the new generation Figo and the all new Figo sedan that will be replacing Classic sedan will be launched by next year. Production of both the vehicles is expected to commence from April 1, 2015 at the company’s Sanand manufacturing unit. In compact sedan segment Figo sedan will compete with the likes of Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and upcoming Tata Zest sedan. It is expected that Ford may price Figo sedan in the range of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh.
