Hyundai India is all set to launch its new compact sedan Xcenttomorrow. Hyundai last month exhibited the sub-four-meter sedan at Auto Expo. The company will foray in the sub-four-meter segment with the new Xcent sedan. The vehicle will cross swords with the likes of Swift Dzire, Amaze and the upcoming Zest sedan from Tata.

Hyundai Xcent is based on Hyundai Grand i10 hatchback and shares design cues with the hatchback. The two vehicles have many things in common, however more details will be unwrappedtomorrowat the launch event. The added boot affixed at the rear proffers segment best space for storing luggage which is unusually not offered in sub-four-meter sedans for keeping the length of the sedan under four meters.

Various equipments have been borrowed from Grand i10 that can be seen inside the cabin. Hyundai is known for equipping its vehicles with best in class features and Xcent is no exception, we expect the compact sedan to offer segment best features (comfort, convenience and safety). Some of the features that could be seen in Xcent include rear air-con vents, rear parking sensors, push-button start and USB-ready audio system with 1GB internal storage, but top variants will go one step further with automatic climate control and a rear-view camera. Features exquisite to top-of-the-line trims include ABS, dual front airbags, steering mounted audio controls.

To make it comfortable for the rear passengers, Xcent will offer roomier cabin with ample head room and leg room. A 1.2 litre petrol and a 1.1 diesel engine could power the petrol and diesel variants of Xcent. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels through a five speed manual transmission, a four speed automatic gearbox is also on cards.

The compact sedan segment is prospering in India and has many takers, Swift Dzire and Amaze has set the expectations of the Indian customers. Zest too is making a lot of buzz thanks to the aggressive marketing strategy Tata has adopted for the upcoming compact sedan. Hyundai however, will have to price Xcent competitively in order to have an edge over its competition.
