The year has been quite good for Hyundai with two back to back success launches, one being the Elite i20, which bagged the Indian Car of the Year award, while the other being the compact sedan Xcent. While the manufacturer has had a superb run in 2014, it also plans to do the same in 2015. The car maker has already announced the launch of ix25 in India for the next year. This global SUV is placed just below the Santa Fe and was first launched in China this October. When launched in the country, it will rival the likes Ford EcoSport, Nissan Terrano, Renault Duster and other such SUVs.

Hyundai India declared in a recent interview that the company will bring its latest SUV next year apart from bringing a new design for the Elite i20 (crossover). The company has started with the testing procedure and focussing to rival Duster and EcoSport. Apart from this factor, the company has also stated that the car will have 90 per cent localisation, thus pricing will be quite low.

The new SUV will be 4270 mm long, and he model will not be hugely different form its Chinese counterpart. The specifications and features will be a bit India-centric. A number of features will be carried over from Elite i20 to ix25, while the 1.6 litre and 1.4 litre petrol and diesel engines will be taken from Verna. Whether the car will be launched with AWD is not known yet, but it will be priced within the range of 8 to 12 lakhs INR. It is expected that the upcoming SUV will also as popular and successful in the Indian market as has been the case with Xcent and Elite i20. This SUV will have to perform well in 2015 to keep the flag of Hyundai flying high.
