Hyundai Motor India, the second largest passenger vehicle manufacturer in the country, aims to attain the top spot in the compact car segment. According to sources, the company will be introducing the Hyundai Grand i10 next month. Sources claim that the Hyundai Grand i10 will have a price tag of Rs. 5 lakh-7.2 lakh and Rs. 5.5 lakh–Rs. 7.5 lakh, respectively for petrol and diesel variants. Experts feel that the Grand i10 will be slotted between the current i10 and i20. Hyundai Motor India is planning to rival the dominance of Maruti Suzuki Swift by introducing Grand i10.
Company officials have confirmed that the new Grand i10 will be powered by 1.1-litre engine, which would make it Hyundai's least-priced diesel car in India. Commenting on this, Rakesh Srivastava, Senior Vice President for Sales at Hyundai Motor India, said, “This car is built on an absolutely new platform and will be offered with the 1.1 litre diesel engine in India for the first time. It is very different from the current i10.” With new and refined U2 diesel engine, it is expected that the Grand i10 will render a superior performance.
As far as the design of Hyundai Grand i10 is concerned, it is built on a distinct new platform, which makes its appearance distinct from the existing i10. Pictures have shown that the car bears a Fluidic Design Language, which the company has used extensively in its new models. The headlights are quite similar to what is offered in the current hatchback, whereas the new design of the tail light makes it look quite attractive. Apart from these, dual-tone alloy wheels are provided in Grand i10, which further enhance its appearance. One of the most noteworthy aspects about the Grand i10 is the kind of legroom and headroom offered for rear passengers. On the outside, the car looks larger, with broader dimensions than the current version of Hyundai i10. Hyundai Grand i10 comes with premium features like push start/stop button, steering mounted controls, Bluetooth connectivity and automatic climate control system.
Hyundai Grand i10 is scheduled to be showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show after being introduced in India. Reports have suggested that the company is planning to replace the current i10 with the new version on a global level. However, considering the kind of performance it has in the Indian market, the South Korean auto maker will sell both, Hyundai i10 and Grand i10.
