The entry level motorcycle segment in India is among the most populated in the Indian market and it seems that another model is set to make its foray. Korean manufacturer Hyosung has confirmed that it will launch the mono-cylinder 250 cc GD250R. The natural question that crops up in the minds of fans is that why launch GD250R when the market is already abundant with GT250R. The GD250R, which comes at a lower price, is mainly targeted to the people who are looking for a more affordable bike. Instead of the dual cylinder boost as in GT250, the GD250R is powered by a single-cylinder.

The best part is that the bike has retained some of its best features like inverted front suspensions, projector headlights and underbelly exhausts. Apart from these, the bike also gets a side-mounted rear mounted suspensions. The rear and front have received petal disc brakes; however unlike the GT250R dual disc frontal brakes, the bike has been given a single disc brake.

The bike will also be available in South Africa sometime soon and the Indian initiation is set to occur next year. The Hyosung GD250R is powered by a 249 cc, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled mono-cylinder engine. It is capable of generating a power of 28 PS at the rate of 9500 rpm. The torque generated is around 24.17 Nm at the rate of 7000 rpm. Mated to a six-speed gearbox, this bike will be priced within 2 to 2.3 lakhs INR.

The Korean manufacturer, Hyosung will definitely look to take on the KTM RC200 and Honda CBR250R. It will be a tough fight as both these bikes have carved out a niche in the Indian market. If the bike performs well, then definitely the customers will have another option to go for in the quarter litre segment.
