The Indian automobile industry has grown great guns in the year 2014 with a plethora of product launches. Some of these have been launched by Indian manufacturers while the others have been imported by foreign makers. The year 2015 is expected to be as big as the previous in terms of car launches, at least. A number of cars from a range of segments have been lined up for launch in the year.
One of the biggest cars up for launch in India in 2015 is the supercar BMW i8. The expected price tag of this car is 1.2 to 1.3 crores INR and is superbly attractive in its design. This car was unveiled at Frankfurt Motor Show recently. It is powered by a three-cylinder 1.5 litre engine, which can generate 231 bhp of power and has 320 Nm torque output. Such is the performance level of this car that it can reach 100 kmph from ignition in a matter of 4.5 seconds. Definitely, a supercar awaits the Indian fans and customers in 2015.
Another foreign make, which is expected to venture in the Indian market, is the BW i3. Priced between 20 to 25 lakhs INR, this hatchback is compact yet sturdy. It has been loaded with a plethora of features. This car is available in western markets as an all-electric as well as electric and petrol models. The car has a unique chassis, made from aluminium totally. The aluminium chassis has been christened as the drive module while the interiors, which house the passengers is known as the life module and is made out of carbon fibres. It is expected that the car will be launched sometime during the first quarter of the calendar.
