Honda, the sixth largest automobile manufacturer globally, has resumed the acceptance of bookings of its bestselling hatchbacks in India, Brio and Jazz, whose bookings were terminated recently due to the prolonged interruptions in production of these cars caused by tragic floods in Thailand, leading to shortage of components.

Analyzing the need of the situation, the Japanese auto maker refrained from accepting further bookings for their compact hatchbacks in a bid to move forward steadily, by acquiring the components from Japan and China to stimulate the production. Now, the auto maker has commenced the production of its much demanded Honda Brio and Jazz at the production facility situated in India.

The second production facility established by the company at Rajasthan, where the manufacturing will be initiated in two shifts to ensure prompt deliveries, will be aimed at resuming car deliveries by the end of this month.

On the revival of the company from this difficult phase, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Senior VP (Marketing & Sales), Honda India, commented, "We have resumed two shift operations from February 15. We will have production of 370 cars per day from today and from next week it will ramp up to 440 units per day. We are confident to achieve peak production output in March 2012. Honda has taken all the necessary recovery actions to normalize production situation with critical components now being sourced from Japan & China."

Besides prioritizing the quick order deliveries and reduction in waiting periods, the firm is also planning major launches in the form of diesel versions of their much successful models, Honda Civic and Honda CR-V.
